SHOT GROOVING SQUAD SESSION WITH A DIFFERENCE

The aim is to improve and maintain performance under varying degrees of pressure throughout the session by focussing on the following:-

  • Technique
  • Tactics
  • Mental Approach (applying phsychology through a practical method)
  • Fitness

    ( 2 - 3 hours session of total focus )

To groove batting effectively for long periods of time is difficult because with younger and also mature players their concentration does not last, especially in a practice environment. This type of grooving session for long periods of time helps train you to focus and therefore improves you powers of concentration. It also shows how important and how constant goal setting can improve the effectiveness and focus of a practice. It is a structured way of building and maintaining attention skills.


To get effective shot development, it is essential to work on repetition of particular shots. For the match realism, handling of pressure, maintaining technique, knowing you role and understanding of tactics, you must groove the shots within various different types of pressure situations that you could encounter during a match. These situations during practice need to get progressively get more difficult.

This unique session combines coaching of technique and tactics while incorporating psychology, such as imagery training and goal setting.

  • Introduces players to imagery training in a practical way.
  • For each degree of difficulty with in a scenario, goals are set, this helps players understand how goal setting works.

  • Players learn how to practice disciplined shot selection.
  • Players learn how to be patient under pressure using a specific practice.
  • Players learn to play to their limitations, while chasing target as a group.
  • They will understand personal glory less important than team goal.
  • There will be constant competition among groups.
  • Running between the wickets technique, importance of being fit.
  • Learning to stick to game plan while regularly running singles and beginning to get to excited, maintaining composure when hitting the ball.
  • Learning improvised hitting and all having a go with in the groups.
  • Improvised hitting as a team, players learning to take responsibility.

    When it has finished we will give you a goal-setting package for you to give to your squad players for the coming season.

    When the session has finished they will have a good understanding on how to fill it in themselves.
