Gary Palmer’s Specialist Fielding Sessions

I have run fielding sessions for County First Team Squads, County Coaches Association Conferences and Test Teams such as:

  • Australia
  • India
  • Sri Lanka

The Fielding sessions listed below that the above sides and organisations have adopted are the same ones I can offer your clubs, schools, County Squads and International Teams.

Improving you fielding as a team could turn an ordinary side in to a good side and a good side into an even better side.

The fielding sessions listed below will be fun, productive and really sharpen up field within your squads.
Teachers and coaches will pick up an array of new innovative ideas for fielding sessions thus making them fun and interesting for the teams they coach. (use a different one each practice and keep your players coming back for more )
The fielding sessions will equip your coaches with an array of ideas to keep their fielding practices interesting productive, competitive and fun.
It will also encourage them to start thinking up innovative drills of their own.

FIELDING

  • Close Catching , using traffic cones and pads. (as seen on level 3)1 to 1 ½ Hour circuit learning how to field at Short leg, Silly point, Slips and gully areas.
  • Innovative fielding drills using small groups and without the use of a keeper. This will help you to run a squad fielding session in the form of a circuit. Each station will address a specific skill or angle of pick up or throw.
  • Combination fielding drills, useful ideas for effective pre match preparation. These are practices where a player may perform two or more skills while under pressure.
  • Productive ways to run pressurised match fielding run out practices in your sports halls to get maximum activity with a squad or a large group of players. (Batters V bowlers executing various specific angles and fielding skills within several stations, all working at the same time.)
  • Fielding drills incorporating the slide and the dive.
  • Fielding drills under extreme pressure by incorporating S.A.Q

This works the fielder on specific speed agility and fitness with in a pressure situation.
